This Surface Pro 4 I bought less than a week ago has been such a pain with so many bugs, a hardware problem with the pen, and so many missing features that Mac has had for years.. You'll end up returning to typing notes (which Mac Books are actually really good for).. You're not missing out on much or at all You can get OneNote in Apple devices too.
You're taking Hx and you find that handwriting is getting (more) illegible Next time you study, you'll be using the surface to type in conjucntoon with a ballpoint pen and paper, as you have always done.. Surface is fantastic, pen does become of limited use based on your prerogative It is likely you'll end up using the surface as you normally would use a laptop/MacBook with the added bonus of being able to use a pen for little things you previously wished you had pen input for, like quickly drawing a border around the lesion which the lecturer was specifically talking about.. Occasionally you'll pull out the surfAce pen because sometimes it's just easier to draw out your own flowcharts or your own versions of pathology for your digital notes because the diagrams in the lectures are overdoing it and drawing with a mouse or with 'insert shapes' takes way too long.. Mac Books have fantastic trackpads, so no problems highlighting and annotating pdfs.. Wow, this is exactly how I feel about the Surface Pro 4, except I didn't know how to describe it until I read this.

I was a Mac user for several years before switching to build a gaming PC desktop running Windows.. Having a touch screen is great for pdfs, but we have to do so much readings that you'd quickly get annoyed at having to hold the tablet at a specific angle becaue of glare and also those finger streaks on the screen get super annoying reading pdfs or just doing work normally especially if you put the surface on dimmest setting to save battery.. Using Mac for work and school was virtually flawless, and if it wasn't, it was my fault for messing things up or slowing it down..
